Well, I hate to tell you, but, I think I’m a canditate for your nanna club.
I went to a 21st birthday party on saturday night. It was a pink themed thingy. So pretty. She had a cupcake cake. and she had pink musk sticks all around in bowls and pink and white m and m’s in bowls…..pink everywhere, even the guys wore pink and grey shirts ( not my hubby though, he allowed me to put a pink stud in his ear- of which I was secretly hoping he would forget about and turn up at golf the next day with it in) But………and this is a huge but………the music was HORRIBLE…….it was just dance music………no words……..nothing to sing along to. Nothing to squeal at and run on the dance floor………….it was just pure techno beat and believe it or not, it took two young whippersnappers to play it !! One of our friends asked them to change the song, and they said, we have 3 times. So there you go, how old and daggy do I feel, I was even wishing in the end that they would play rikki lee, I was getting so desperate. Now in my day, we would have accomodated the oldies, but I think it was a definite ploy to get rid of the grannies early.

I’m a nanna six times over from six months to 9 years and what really fascinates me is the differences in personalities of all six children….Buying their presents I had to think which one likes specific type items from “I want to do it myself” to providing toys that challenge!….On principle I will not buy a computer game or related bam, bam, bam, that seems the only purpose is to “kill the enemy”…I know I am old fashioned in this viewpoint but for heaven’s sake…why does kids entertainment always have to be about knocking someone off!

winnierose, I know what you mean, but I’m smart enough now, to read the signs and excuse myself before the event…..admittedly mine was an 8 year olds at the Rollerarena but I just knew it meant noise!!! Hubby must love you to wear a pink stud to join in the spirit of the fun!….GET AWAY WITH YOU! would have been mine’s!

Congratulation Nanna, enjoy your role in life…much easier than being a “Mum” even though we never really lose that role either

I love a good nanna nap. Even though I’m neither a woman nor a grandparent. Can’t knit though.

I am a great knitter but not a nanna. Also like a nap in front of TV. Why is it one can sleep with the TV on full blast?Soon as one turn it off one is clear awake.
